1. Use a 60 – 80 grit grinding pad to clean the metal (This ensures that paint, rust,primer, and any coatings will be removed from the work surface and not ground into it)
2. Work surface should be free of all moisture
1. Ground Lead – connect the GROUND LEAD to the RIGHT SIDE CONNECTION on front of case. Gently press the lead into the receptacle twist gently until lead locks into place
2.Weld Handle Lead – Connect the WELD HANDLE LEAD into the LEFT SIDE CONNECTION on the front of case. Gently press the lead into receptacle and twist gently until lead locks into place.
3. Weld Handle Control – Take the small connector in the second line on the WELD HANDLE LEAD and gently plug into the push button receptacle located above the weld handle lead receptacle
4. Power Cord – Route the power cord through the power cord port located at the back of the unit. Plug the unit into a 120volt 20 amp outlet *** When using an extension cord use only a 12/3 or larger cable diameter, not longer than 25 feet. Differing from these specifications may result in a power drop that will affect the performance of the unit ***
5.Power Source – Be sure the unit is plugged directly into a 120 volt 20 amp wall outlet
6. Electrode – Make sure the electrode end is clean and ground to a 1/16 tip diameter (similar to a broken pencil) use a clean grinding pad or bench grinder to redress the tip when necessary. (Using a dirty grinding wheel will result in impurities being ground into the tip and impairing the performance of the unit)
7. Ground – Attach the ground magnet to a cleanly ground area of work surface (note: the copper center in the magnet is all that is required to properly ground the unit).
Adjust the Timer ; Adjust the timer settings similar to the hour settings on a clock
1. 12 – 3 – For pulling using the electrode and prybar (MORE IS NOT BETTER)
2. 3 – 6 – For installing pin gun studs
3. 10 – 11 – for shrinking metal. Use with discretion
1 Place foot of the prybar on sturdy surface on the work area.
2.Place electrode through the rails of the weld handle onto the desired pull spot **Do NOT push the electrode into the work surface as this will prevent the unit from making the weld**
3. Hold the button on the weld handle until the timer cycles.
4. Lift gently with the prybar until desired pull spot is obtained
5. Relax the pull then twist the handle left and right to break the weld
6. Repeat over work surface as necessary
***If Repeated use cause the electrode tip to get hot, cool it off in a cup of water the continue using***
1. Insert stud into the shrink/nail head
2.Lightly (1-2lbs of pressure) push the stud against the work surface
3.Hold the button on the weld handle until timer cycles.
4. Repeat as many times as necessary
1. Place domed edge of shrink tip against desired area.
2. Push against work as necessary while simultaneously pushing button
3. Repeat as necessary
